Bright lights!     Big City!      Big concert!!!!!

 WE Came!  We Saw!  We played!

 

The BMIFC  issued the schedule of events Barry fans world-wide in preparation for the big big big doings in the desert.    We're here to say...not so fast ladies and gents, there were some things happening in the land of neon that did not happen in the South Pacific Ballroom. 

June 4th:

2:00  ~ 4:00pm

A very special book signing by Brenda Meskunas in her suite at THEHotel at Mandalay Bay.  Brenda has written the extremely funny A Very Strange Medley.  A tome that we feel should be in every Barry fan's personal library if for no other reason than to bring a breath of fresh air to the sometimes too serious world of fandom.  To quote Brenda, "There will be wine and cheese to go with all the "whine" and cheesiness."  We told you it was going to be fun.  

And let me tell you, it was standing room only!  The wine was flowing, the DVD was playing and the books were selling out the door.  A good time was had by all.

in the Orchid Lounge

located in the lobby of beautiful Mandalay Bay
 

The Orchid Lounge located near the hotel lobby serves a variety of coffees and pastries as well as beverages with a bit more punch for those preferring a different sort of eye opener. We used this time before the day's BASH functions began to meet in person many of our on-line friends.  This  was the perfect time to pick-up the fundraiser bracelets pre-ordered from Margie. Unfortunately, we have no pictures of this gathering.  Probably a good thing, would be too incriminating with shots of us doing shots!  Just kidding, at that time of the day there were just a few Mimosas and Bloody Marys.
 

 

12:00 ~ 4:00pm

 

Don't forget this was also the day to meet the author of Misdemeanor Man, Dylan Schaffer, at The Reading Room Bookstore in Mandalay Place.  Dylan was signing copies of his book between noon and 4:00 pm.  June 5th was the official the release date for this gripping, irreverent legal thriller about broken hearts, dropped pants, and the magic of Barry Manilow. (yes, that's Margie, and Sharon w/Dylan)

Mandalay Place is the  corridor connecting Mandalay Bay and Luxor.  The Reading Room Bookstore is near the entrance between the House of Blues and Mandalay Bay Theatre on the casino level to the right of the escalator.
